Meet The Founder
A Teacher First.
A Counsellor By Calling.
Sumalatha Jannu is an Economics teacher and certified career counsellor with 16+ years guiding students across CBSE, IGCSE, Cambridge, and IB MYP — helping families move from confusion to a plan they actually understand.
Students don't just need information. They need a trusted adult who can turn confusion into a simple, step-by-step plan.
The Why
Why Sumalatha Built
A Better Way.
RealUCareers didn't start as a business plan. It started as a pattern Sumalatha couldn't stop noticing — and a promise to do something about it.
The Classroom Years
Sixteen Years, One Repeated Pattern
For years in the classroom, Sumalatha saw the same story unfold — bright students choosing streams and courses based on marks, peer pressure, or random advice, then regretting those decisions later. Parents were anxious, students were stressed, and most schools had limited structured career guidance to offer.
The Realisation
Information Was Never The Problem
She realised students didn't need more information — they needed a trusted adult who understood both education systems and real-world careers, and who could translate that into a simple, step-by-step plan. Someone to sit with the confusion, not just hand over a pamphlet.
The First Sessions
Guidance For Her Own Students, First
What began as informal guidance for her own students slowly became something families actively sought out — word spreading between parents, schools asking for workshops, students returning years later just to say thank you.
Today
A Dedicated Platform, Built On Real Experience
RealUCareers is that guidance, formalised — from initial stream selection after 8th–10th, to college and study-abroad decisions after 12th and graduation. The goal has stayed the same throughout: make career planning less confusing and more intentional, one honest conversation at a time.
Our Mission
Guidance That Builds Real Confidence.
To guide students and parents with personalised career counselling, academic direction, and practical support that builds confidence and clarity — one honest conversation at a time.
Our Vision
A Trusted Mentor For Every Family.
To become a trusted career and life-skills mentor brand that empowers students to make informed, future-ready choices — not just about what to study, but who to become.
Why RealUCareers
Guidance Grounded In Real
Classrooms — Not Sales Scripts.
Four principles guide every session, every workshop, and every roadmap we write.
01
Personalised Career Guidance
Helping students choose careers based on their interests, strengths, and potential — not marks alone.
02
Holistic Development Approach
Using psychometric tests and scientific methods to guide students toward the right path, not a generic one.
03
Clarity In Career Decisions
Simplifying complex decisions like stream selection, college choices, and career planning into something families can act on.
04
End-To-End Study Abroad Support
Guiding students through admissions, SOPs, interviews, visas, and scholarships — start to finish, without the overwhelm.
How She Works
Slow Conversations. Structured
Frameworks. Real Outcomes.
Every session starts the same way — not with a form, but with a question: what's actually confusing you right now? Sessions are deliberately unhurried, with no script and no pressure to decide anything in the first hour. The student's voice comes first, always — parents are treated as partners in the process, not the ones making the final call on someone else's future.
What follows is structure, not improvisation. Psychometric assessments, honest conversations, and years of classroom pattern-recognition come together into a written roadmap — something a family can hold onto, revisit, and act on long after the session ends.
Off The Clock
When She's Not Counselling
Sumalatha teaches Economics because she genuinely loves the subject, not just because it pays the bills. Outside of sessions, she reads widely on education policy, believes in unhurried mornings, and finds most of her best ideas on long walks. Guiding students isn't a job she clocks out of — it's the reason she got into a classroom in the first place.
